The port of Manado is located in Manado CityThe port was formerly under the management branch of PT. Pelindo IV Bitung. Since 1st January 2011, Port of Manado became a stand-alone branch under PT. Pelindo IV Headquarters in Makassar. The business segment of the port are ships services, goods, passengers, storage and property. The main business segment of Manado port is passengers service for inter-island (fast ferry/speed boat).  

In general, the ships berthing in the port of Manado are fast ferry serves to Sangir and Talaud Islands. The large-sized of vessels such as container vessel, conventional vessel and passenger vessel owned by PT. PELNI (Persero) are berthing in the port of Bitung, which is located about 40 km East of Manado City.

Port of Manado does not have a multipurpose terminal because of low commodity movement and in small volume. The cargoes are usually directly loaded onto the ship or taken directly from the service user.

Stevedoring 

Stevedoring activities organized by third parties (authorised stevedoring company) in coordination with the Labour Union Association (TKBM) administered by the Port Authority (KSOP) Office. The owner/shipper can also discharge their own cargo by contacting the Labour Union Association directly.  

All of them provide full or semi-full package services; organizing labourer and handling equipment, discharging goods at the port, and delivering the goods at the customer’s warehouses directly. 

Hinterland Information 

The port serves a vast inland area of many smaller islands within Northern Sulawesi with vast mining, plantations and forestry potential and the fisheries sector is also one of the main sectors. 

Hinterland along the island consists of several commodities such as cloves, nutmeg and copra. These commodities originating from the Sangihe, Talaud, TagulandangSitaro and North Maluku islands are the main commodities that pass through the Manado port, where market demand for these commodities is quite high both in Manado and other regions including Java.
