General Overview

The airport is located in Deli Serdang, North Sumatera, 39 km from Medan and 46km South-East of the port of Belawan.

  • This is the second largest airport after Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and opened on 25th July 2013.

  • Cargo storage is located 1.5 km from passanger terminal apron side

  • A  cargo apron is available; which can accommodate three aircrafts wide body

  • The apron is not provided with fuel hydrant pitch

Cargo Development Plan

  • Phase I: 13.000 m2 (65.000 ton/year)

  • Phase II: 18.963 m2

  • Ultimate: 27.318 m2

In line with government plan of MP3EI and Siglognas, the area of Kualanamu International Airport is expected for:
1) Government tool for trade facilities, especially for international trade strategy;
2) increase the attractiveness of hinterland investment;
3) As a drive for hinterland economic development;
4) To make effectivity and efficient connectivity of national logistics system.

To achieve the above plan, the government will be develop the International Air Logistics Hub which will be a driver for national trade and industrial development as well as support facilities for production and ASEAN trade.

  • There are two warehouses of total 5000 m2 space available for international cargo and two warehouses of total 10,000m2 space available for domestic cargo.

  • There are storage rooms for diplomatic cargo (75m3), valuable cargo (75m3) and dangerous goods (75m3). 

  • Two ( 2) cold rooms available for transit storage.  The first is 0 to 7 degrees Celsius (75m3) and the second is -25 to 0 degrees Celsius (75m3).  All are operated by PT Jasa Angkasa Semesta, TBK.

  • The airport is equipped with modern security facilities, including X-ray equipment for baggage and cargo check, walk-through and handheld metal detector, CCTV system and perimeter fences.
