Airport Overview

Condition of the runway is good. The airport is used by Myanmar National Airlines. There are regular flights, three times a week; every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to Homlin in Sagaing region. There is no designated helipad in place. However, it can be arranged at apron area (91 x 91 meters) for VIP flight with prior approval from Department of Civil Aviation in Yangon which takes about minimum 5 working days. The airport is shared with the military North-West command operating from a base with a helipad next to the civilian side of the airport.
There is 36 m2 storage capacity in the garage of the fire truck and the terminal (80 m2) has been used for temporary storage of relief items. There is only basic manual cargo handling equipment (500 kg capacity) to support passenger services in this airport. The largest plane that can be handled are medium-sized 100-seat planes such as EMB-190 / B-717.
