Airport Overview 

Mbuji Mayi Airport is the fifth airport of DRC in terms of passengers and cargo traffic, and is the main transportation means to supply the city and the province. The African Development Bank Group under the Projet Prioritaire de Sécurité Aérienne - Phase 2 (PPSA II) is funding the airstrip extension up to 3000 x 60 m, a new tower control and a fire station. This project will be completed by the end of December 2024 and will allow the airport to welcome an additional range of aircraft.

Storage Facilities 

The RVA has a warehouse, which is a prefabricated structure left by MONUSCO, There is available land to erect mobile storage units. Written requests for contracting and terms are to be addressed to RVA Management. 

Handling equipment 

Handling equipment is not available at the airport at the moment, however, RVA Management is currently sourcing a supplier to deliver this service. 

Fuel Services Charges  

The cost of importing jet fuel has recently increased and the country faced shortages last September 2022. The Ministry of Hydrocarbons has implemented a contingency plan that includes rationing fuel until the arrival of new stocks. Due to this context, prices are fluctuating and the current fuel price list is available on the website of the Ministry of Economy here.  
Jet fuel shortage at SEP airport may occur due to delay to receive replenishment from Ilebo SNCC Port connected with the train (derailment, breakdown locomotive, landslide…).
