General Overview
The airport is located in Deli Serdang, North Sumatera, 39 km from Medan and 46km South-East of the port of Belawan.

This is the second largest airport after Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and opened on 25th July 2013.

In line with government plan of MP3EI and
Siglognas, the area of Kualanamu International Airport is expected
for:
1) Government tool for trade facilities, especially for
international trade strategy;
2) increase the attractiveness of hinterland investment;
3) As a drive for hinterland economic development;
4) To make effectivity and efficient connectivity of national
logistics system.
To achieve the above plan, the government will be develop the
International Air Logistics Hub which will be a driver for national
trade and industrial development as well as support facilities for
production and ASEAN trade.
