Storage Facilities

Soekarno-Hatta Airport has access to ample storage facilities:

  • There is a large cargo terminal with several warehouses, which are rented out to different handling companies;

Additional Storage:

  • An industrial business park within the airport compound with 30 Ha dedicated for storage space, of which there are 9000m2 of purpose built warehouse space (with additional offices and car parking etc.) and the remainder is open land that could be utilized for temporary storage in humanitarian crisis.

  • There are a large number of commercial warehouses in the areas surrounding the airport, these are reputedly space is these facilities is easy to secure - as the airport is using relatively low volumes of air freight.

There are small purpose built warehouses for the ground handling companies:

  • Import Cargo WH of 500 M²

  • Export Cargo WH of 500 M²

There are no cold storage facilities.
For emergency responses Angkasa Pura indicated 3 distinct areas within the civil airport that could be used for Humanitarian Staging Area storage facilities:

  • Disused car park and tennis court – est: 2,400 m2

  • Disused Ware house (with rooms for office space) est: 1500 m2

  • Disused Apron space (in front of cargo area) est: 650 m2

The Army base within the airport compound has substantially larger open areas, surfaced aprons and hangars that could facilitate a HSA within the airport perimeter – if permissions was obtained.

  • Import Cargo WH of approximately 500 M2

  • Export Cargo WH of approximately 500 M2

  • There are no cold storage or strong box facilities.

  • For emergency responses Angkasa Pura indicated that there is plenty of un-surfaced space to the north end of the cargo terminal that could be used as open storage if the airport was to be utilized as a Humanitarian Staging Area (HSA).

  • Angkasa Pura also indicated that they could desigante 0.6 Ha of apron space in fron of the cargo terminal for the HSA.

  • Additionally there is an area of approximately 2 Ha that has been cleared as part of the construction of the new terminal but has no designated use.

  • The air force base on the opposite side of the runway has much larger open areas and surfaces aprons and hangers that could facilitate a HSA within the airport perimeter – if permission was obtained.

Storage Facilities

There are small purpose built warehouses for the ground handling companies:

  • Import Cargo WH of 500 M2
  • Export Cargo WH of 500 M2

There are no cold storage (reefer) facilities.
For emergency responses, Angkasa Pura indicated that there is plenty of un-surfaced space adjacent to the apron and cargo area that could be used as open storage if the airport was to be utilized as a Humanitarian Staging Area.
The air force base within the airport compound has much larger open areas and surfaces aprons and hangars that could facilitate a HSA within the airport perimeter – if permission was obtained.

2.2.15 Indonesia Yogyakarta Adisutjipto International Airport

Airport Overview

Yogyakarta Adisutjipto airport is located in Sleman district, about 6 km from the city centre of Yogyakarta. The airport serves as the air gateway for the province as well as surrounding districts under Central Java Province. The airport was originally a military airbase and expanded for civilian aviation, covering domestic and international flights. Due to overcapacity and limitation of land for development and expansion, some commercial flights have gradually relocated to the new Yogyakarta International Airport located in Kulon Progo, about 43 km from the city centre (1,5 hours’ drive by car), expected to be fully operational by early 2020. Once the new airport is fully operational, Adisutjipto airport will only serve limited commercial flights for domestic, private aviation (chartered) and military.

The airport operates from 05.00 – 24.00 WIB (22.00 – 17.00 UTC).
