Airport Overview

Kyauk Phyu airport was built in 1958 for military operations. Its runway is 4,620 feet long and 100 feet wide. The runway was expanded in 2011 by additional 1,000 feet and in 2013 by another 1,400 feet. Current runway operates with a length of 7,500 feet (2,286 m) and a width of 100 feet. There are two airlines which operates in the Kyauk Phyu airport: Myanmar National Airlines and Air KBZ. There are no international airlines.

The airport handles an estimate of 14 flights per week and flight delays are likely to happen only during the rainy and winter seasons. There are two designated area with helicopter pads in place owned by a private company POSCO international. No cargo handling equipment facilities in this airport as it is mainly used for tourism. Only two types of aircraft; ATR 72-600 with the capacity of 70 seats and C208 (208 Caravan) with the capacity of 9 ~ 13 seats are handled.
