Rajbiraj is the district headquarters of Saptari District, Province 2 and is located approximately 521 km from the capital, Kathmandu. The airport is situated 5km south of central Rajbiraj. After 11 years of complete shutdown, the airport resumed its operations on 23 May 2018. There are 4 flights that operate per week between Kathmandu to Rajbiraj, operated by some national operators (flight time 55 minutes).
