Overview

The Bhairahaw/Belhya, also known as Sunauli, is an Official Border Crossing point for heavy and light vehicles. Immigration is present, as is highly sophisticated CCTV which is monitored online at Kathmandu by Customs HQ. There are currently no scanning facilities, but they are planned for 2017.  During the 2015 earthquake emergency response, cargo emanating from and transiting through India used the Humanitarian Staging Area (HSA) at Bharatpur. This is operational as an Inland Clearance Depot (ICD) run by Trans Nepal Freight Services Ltd.
