The airport runway built during the Soviet period is one of the longest in Eastern Europe.Following the reconstruction works carried out on the first segment of the runway, there was increased the bearing capacity of its shells up to a value greater than 70 units instead of 51 PCN index, the previously existing one. Moreover, it has already been extended in width from 45 m to 60 m.

The runway is RWY 08/26 – 3590 x 45 meters. Normally if there is no strong tailwind or any other significant weather conditions aircraft arriving from the west will prefer RWY 08 to land and RWY 26 to depart in the western direction.
