Major Road transport/logistics companies are limited in Vanuatu and are located in the Port Vila, Efate and Luganville, Santo areas where the international shipping and airport hubs are located.
Public Works Department
The Government of Vanuatu, Public Works Department (PWD) has a number of lorries and heavy lifting/ earthmoving equipment. They are located in Efate and Santo some regional areas where roads development is underway.
During an emergency PWD may be able to assist with providing services, or accessing the commercial engineering companies who have large trucks for roads development.
The Chinese Civil Engineering Coordination Company. CCECC have projects in Tanna and Malekula. They have several large earthmoving trucks and have been willing to assist with disaster response in the past.
The wharf construction companies also have heavy lift and transport assets.
NOTE: Requests for assistance from the international construction companies operating in Port Vila must be coordinated through the Public Works Department.
Vanuatu Mobile Force
China has recently donated 3 brand new military troop trucks, an Ambulance and a fire truck to the Government of Vanuatu. The transport trucks were used effectively to evacuate people from flood zones to evacuation centres during TC Cook (2017).

The VMF vehicles and staff can be called on to assist. Petrol, meals and water must be provided.

Au Bon Mache is the largest supermarket chain in Port Vila and sends supplies to the islands. They have 3 delivery trucks to supply stores and transport stocks to the wharf. ABM have assisted NDMO in the past in delivering food supplies purchased for disaster response to the wharf
