The Algerian market of Petroleum products, was evaluated in 2011 to 14 million tonnes where the share of the national company "NAFTAL" is predominant.

Distribution activities and storage of petroleum products, is open to public and private investment. This activity increasingly interested both Algerian private operators and foreign operators.

In addition to these operators, some foreign companies operating on the domestic market through their subsidiaries under Algerian law, in the following activities:

  • Activity in the formulation and distribution of bitumen.
  • Activity in the storage and distribution of lubricant.

Secondary Deposits: With the exception of 5 parts of Algeria (Wilaya ) lack of storage capacity and are supplied from distribution centers bordering all other wilaya have fuel deposits providing them cover for their needs.

Road

This mode of transport is growing more and more participation of private operators. These operators hold more than 47% share of the transport of packaged LPG market. For fuels, they hold 30% share.

The activity of transportation of petroleum products and other services performed on behalf of authorized distributors by the Ministry of Energy and Mines, is not subject to authorization, in accordance with Executive Order No. 97-435.

Pipes

The transport network pipes can meet the demand for petroleum products. For this purpose a network of pipes was conducted and other projects in this field are in progress.

Cabotage

Transport fuels by cabotage between oil ports recorded a significant flow to ensure a supply of fuel throughout the year, especially during periods of high consumption.

Program development and expansion of the transportation system fuel by pipeline will improve service and reduce account cabotage operations are difficult to perform in adverse weather conditions.

Trucks

The mode of transport by rail fuel is provided by the Société de transport petroleum products ETPS.
