For information on Milling company contact details, please see the following link: 4.6 Rwanda Storage and Milling Companies Contact List

The milling capacity in Rwanda has grown over the past few years. The increased production of maize grain over the past few years has seen a rise in the number and capacity of milling companies. Of the main companies available in the market, MINIMEX LTD. and SOSOMA Industries have been assessed by food technologists.

Milling Company - MINIMEX Ltd

Minimex, a private company, began operations in November 2006 and is located in Kigali. The complex is very new and sited on a large plot with ample space for trucks, etc. Minimex is well positioned to serve the regional market of Rwanda, DRC, and Burundi. However, the company faces two major constraints, including limited local supply of maize grain and steady demand for maize flour.

Other products include maize grits used in brewery and maize bran which is used as animal feed and mostly exported to neighbouring Kenya where the demand is relatively high.
