There are three main passenger carrying vessels that operate in Vanuatu for cheaper transport between three of the greater populated islands:

  1. Vanuatu Ferry, which also carries cargo, travels between Port Vila Santo, Malekula and Tanna.
  2. Vanuatu Cargo, the sister ship of Vanuatu Ferry.
  3. The Big Sista - these ships also continue through and service the more populated islands.

Some of the smaller cargo vessels will carry up to 5 passengers however the ships are not designed for passenger transport.

Company Information

The Vanuatu Ferry and Big Sista are the major inter-island people moving companies. Ocean Logistics is the major company for tugs and barges. There are multiple smaller landing craft and maritime vessels operated privately for cargo transports across Vanuatu.
