Port Overview

Iskenderun port is situated on the North east of the Mediterranean Sea. It serves the Southeast, East Anatolian regions as well as transit traffic to the Middle-east countries. The port connected to the national railway system to every quay. Dangerous cargo is discharged into lighters and stored in special areas. The port has a breakwater of 1.400 m. long and is protected from North and South winds Sudden and very strong winds called "Yarikkaya" blow from North and east during winter season and as a result shore cranes have to stop operations in those conditions .  Depth at the port entrance is 12 m.

Pilotage is compulsory for the vessels entering or leaving the port and is provided by the Port Administration. VHF channels 16, 13. (Iskenderun TCDD Pilot). 6 tugs 970 h.p. - 2620 h.p. available and provided by the Port Administration.

First shift: 08.00-16.30, Second shift: 16.30-23.30, Third shift: on demand (overtime to be paid)

24/7pilotage and tow services are being given to all of the ships coming to Limak Port located at the area that is protected with breakwater in length of 1.375 meters and Sasa and POAS floats located at the Iskenderun gulf and Highways plants.

Dry bulk vessels up to 70,000 DWT can be handled. Dry bulk cargoes such as fertilizer, corn, wheat, bran, soybean etc. as well as products such as pipes, plate sheets, iron, palletized, big-bagged, bagged, sling bagged, and general cargoes can be handled at the Port.

Imports and Exports - RoRo

Every type of automobile, self - propelled vehicles, pick-ups can be handled. The port serves transit automobile trade with 120.000 automobiles capacity per year. The tally men can check the chassis numbers of the vehicles before loading / unloading operations by using hand-held terminals.

Other Imports

Using the Liebherr 550 MCH's, the port can handle project cargoes up to 180 tons, and also the 600 tons of project cargoes with vessel cranes. Furthermore, depending on the customers’ request, cargo’s assembly and disassembly can be done inside the port.

The port does not have specific container equipment. Mixed container operations are carried out at the port by a fixed shore crane of 25 tons lifting capacity and 2 container forklifts of 10 to 42 tons lifting capacity. Reefer points for refrigerated containers are available on a 75,000 sq.m concrete yard.

Terminal Information

Multipurpose Terminal

With the modern equipment, dry bulk vessels up to 70,000 DWT can be handled. Dry bulk cargoes such as fertilizer, corn, wheat, bran, soybean etc. as well as products such as pipes, plate sheets, iron, palletized, big-bagged, bagged, sling bagged and general cargoes can be handled at the Port.

Grain and Bulk Handling

Conveyors are available for ore, grain and coal handling, operation at a rate 250 tons/hr., 300 tons/hr. respectively. The construction of a grain silo of 60,000 tons capacity has been completed, and has a conveyor connection with the quay.
