Minimum wage: The government-mandated minimum wage in the public sector is approximately EGP 2000 (USD 123) a month. The minimum-wage law is also observed in the private sector. 

Social contributions:  

Social security contributions paid by employers: 

  • 26% on basic salary for maximum 1120 L.E. 
  • 24% on variable salary for maximum 2110 L.E. 

Social security contributions paid by employees: 

  • 14% on basic salary for maximum 1120 L.E. 
  • 11% on variable salary for maximum 2110 L.E.
