Daily Capacity
This border post has a steady volume of traffic. Very little parking space for trucks is available, except along the roadside. Approximately 70-75 trucks per day cross both ways with most in transit coming from the Zambia Mokambo Border Post. The maximum capacity is about 100 trucks per day and there is about a 1-2 hour wait when all documentation is correct. The road providing access is of excellent tarmac from Mansa on M3.

Electronic pre-clearanceis possible and recommended through a forwarding agent. A bond is held by the agent for and for a fee. The ZRA is the Regulatory Authority. Inspection is required by the Ministry of Agriculture and the ZRA for import and export. A fee of 100 USD per foreign registered truck and 196 ZMW for Zambian trucks is required. All trucks are subject to inspection upon entering or leaving the country.

Other Relevant Information
Cargo transits from and to DRC with correct documentation are done fairly smoothly. Movement of people and private vehicles from Mokambo to Chembe are not recommended since they experience more difficulties. Photos can be found in Annexes.
Food is inspected by the Ministry of Agriculture.
