Airport Overview
Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (IATA: ADD, ICAO: HAAB) serves the city of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The airport is located in the Bole area, 6 km (3.7 mi) southeast of Addis Ababa city centre and 65 km (40 mi) north of Debre Zeyit. Formerly known as Haile Selassie International Airport, it is the main hub of Ethiopian Airlines, the national airline that serves destinations in Ethiopia and throughout the African continent, as well as offering nonstop service to Asia, Europe, and North and South America. It is also the base of the Ethiopian Aviation Academy, a major pilot training and aircraft maintenance centre in Africa. As of June 2018, , more than 450 flights per day were departing from and arriving at the airport. The airport is capable of accommodating the A390.

Navigation Charges
Air navigation charges are levied on all aircraft flying within Addis Ababa FIR irrespective of contact made with Air Traffic Control. The unit rate for international flights is US $16.24. The Air Navigation Charge for international flights weighting less than 10,000 lb. is US $ 7.51 per flight, and air weighting above 10,000 lb. will be calculated as per the following table.

Storage Facilities
Bole Cargo Centre
This facility is situated at the JKIA Specialised Freight Area on a 2.5 ha site. The facility is jointly sponsored by the Commonwealth Development Corporation, The German Investment and Development Company, The Commonwealth Africa Investment Fund Ltd, The Acacia Fund Limited, BOC Cargo Services, Flughafen Frankfurt Main, and African Cargo Limited. The export area measures 5,600 m² and the import area measures 5,600 m². The cold room is 720 m² and has a capacity of 100,000 mt (60 pallets) controlled at 4ºC. There are 120 office units for rent.
Cargo Service Centre
The Cargo Service Centre has leased a 6,070 m² facility. The cold room is 160 m² and has a capacity for 15 pallets and is controlled at 4ºC. The fresh produce area measures 615 m² and there are 4 office units for their clients.
New Cargo Terminal
On June 29, 2017, Ethiopian Airlines inaugurated its second cargo terminal that has the capacity to accommodate 600,000 tons of cargo per year. The new Cargo Terminal-II covers a total area of 150,000 m2.
The Terminal includes facilities such as a Dry Cargo Terminal warehouse, a Perishable Cargo Terminal with cold chain storage, is fully automated with latest ETV (Elevating Transport Vehicle) technology, a G+2 office building, an apron area which accommodates 5 additional big freighter aircraft, sufficient truck parking on the apron as well as an employee canteen and wash rooms.
The new Cargo Terminal is also fitted with different climate chambers for storage and handling of temperature sensitive products such as fresh agricultural products, pharmaceuticals, and life science products etc.
The total facility (old and new terminal together) will have annual capacity to handle 1.2 million tonnes of cargo which is the largest in Africa.
