Surigao Port is is a large-sized port. The types of vessels regularly calling at SURIGAO are Ro-Ro/Passenger Ship (24%), General Cargo (16%), Cargo (16%), Passenger (13%), Landing Craft (8%). The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 122 meters. The maximum draught is 6.3 meters. The maximum deadweight is 7787 tons.

The Port Management Office of Surigao has jurisdiction over various ports in the provinces of Surigao Del Norte (including Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands), Surigao del Sur and the Province of Dinagat Islands. Passengers and cargoes from Southern Leyte and even Agusan Del Sur and Agusan Del Norte are handled at Surigao thereby making it the premier port in the Caraga region.

Under PMO Surigao’s supervision are the four Terminal Management Offices (TMO) namely TMO Lipata in Surigao del Norte and TMO Siargao, which oversees ports in Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands from its base at the Port of Dapa in Siargao Islands, Surigao del Norte. TMO Dinagat Islands oversees government ports in the island province from its base in the Port of San Jose, while TMO Tandag manages ports in the Province of Surigao del Sur from its base at the Port of Tandag in Tandag City.
