Fuel Overview

Egypt has a considerable number of fuel suppliers and storage service providers spread all over the country.  Many international services providers have agents operating in the country such as: Chevron, Total, Shell, PetrominCatlex, Mobile, etc.

On 12th February 2019, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources signed a strategic cooperation agreement between Arab Petroleum Pipelines Company (SUMED) and Saudi Aramco Products Trading Company (ATC), to provide storage capacities for trading and storing high quality gas oil, (Euro Standard), with total capacity of 222,000 m3 at the company site, in Sidi Kerir, to be re-exported to the European market. During October 2019, the project has started operation, and it is considered one of the axes implementing the Ministry of Petroleum’s strategy for transferring Egypt into a regional hub for trading oil and gas.

On the other side, another agreement with Saudi Aramco Trading was signed, to benefit from SUMED’s offshore platform in Ain El- Sokhna and its facilities, by providing storage capacities for receiving, storing and trading fuel oil, with total capacity of 165,000 m3 at the company site, in Ain El-Sokhna, for supplying the power plants in Saudi Arabia, or re-exporting it, or meeting the Egyptian local market needs, or providing fuel for ships in the region.
