Overview
The Kanchanpur customs office is the second customs office for Sudurpashchim province. It lies on the border of Nepal - India at the Sarada Barrage in Bhimdatta Municipality, along the Mahakali River of Sudurpashcim Province, Nepal. The local population rely on an old bridge of the Sarada barrage. Loaded vehicles are prohibited from using the Sarada barrage bridge. The closest bridge is approximately 15 km away from the customs office at Tanakpur over the Mahakali river, which connects to the Indian road network.
Kanchanpur is a minor border crossing, rated no. 17 of 23 border crossings in terms import share, 0.08% of total country import share value during July 2018-May 2019.

Kolkota is the nearest sea port in India side to import and export third country goods 1290 km away from Mahendranagar takes 26 hours travel time. The only one Integrated Check Post with the port facility is available only in Birgunj-Bara in Nepal, which is 680 km away from Dhangadi-Kailali takes 15 hour travel time. |

Daily Capacity
Daily capacity of the customs office is 100 to 200 trucks per day. The bridge over the Mahakali River on the India side (Banabassa) is dilapidated and allows only 10 MT vehicle maximum.
