Port Overview
The Port of Legaspi is the principal seaport on the east coast of Luzon and lies at the head of Albay Gulf. It is the center of the largest hemp-producing area of the Philippines. Legaspi is the primary port for a region that exports copra and abaca. The city has facilities for storing petroleum, and it is the centre of a large abaca-fibre handicraft industry. The Port of Legaspi has been renowned as haven for ships cruising the Pacific Ocean and voyage-weary seafarers. More than this, it has become a main channel for the exchange of seaborne commodities between the Bicol peninsula and certain trade centers in the country.
