Milling Assessment

Background on the General company for mills: 

• The General Company for Mills was established in 1975, to manage and invest in mills for lentil and bulgur factories, and to distribute and sell their products according to the plan decided by the General Organization for Grain Trade and Manufacturing. 

• The company takes all necessary measures to maintain its mills, facilities, and warehouses, in addition to receiving, manufacturing, distributing, and selling grains, and receiving and storing imported flour. 

• The production capacity of flour increased from 3,700 tons to 7,000 tons per day, until 2011 

• During the years of war, several mills went out of service in Aleppo, Homs, Deir_ez-Zor and Raqqa. There are also mills currently operating at half their capacity due to the decline in wheat crop production.
