Overview
Zambian Revenue and Immigration Authorities are present at this crossing. It is a very small post of 3 persons. Most commercial traffic originates in DRC. The road from Mufulira to the border post is in bad condition making it difficult for large commercial trucks to access it. Rehabilitation of these roads is planned for 2018.

There are fueling stations in the small town of Mufulira. The road from Mufulira to the border is made of gravel and in bad condition. Rehabilitation works are on going, planed to be completed by 2022. Very little presence of traffic at this border due to the present road conditions. The present traffic consists mostly of cargo moving from DRC to Zambia and Zambian busses moving from Copperbelt to Luapula and Northern, and vice versa. |

Daily Capacity
Capacity could be as many as 30 trucks per day, but there are few if any cargo vehicles departing Zambia through this crossing at present. Most cargo traffic originates in DRC (one or two trucks per day). No parking areas or lanes are provided for vehicles crossing. Photos of the small office and crossing in can be found in Annexes.
Customs Clearance
Minimum delays occur because of Self-assessment pre-clearing routine on documentation done in advance. Documentation requirements for food (cereals):
- Waybills
- Export permit (dependent on commodity)
- Certificate of Origin (COMESA/SADC)
- Fumigation certificate
- Export schedule (in case of maize)
- Invoice
- Phytosanitary certificate

Other Relevant Information
Waiting time is approximately a half day if all documentation is complete and correct. A toll gate for in coming and out going vehicle has been installed. The border has also a modern building block for borders operations
