Airport Overview
Vohemar airport is a public restricted airport under the supervision of the FLOR IBIS Company. There are no regular flight anymore, but private companies can land. Terminal building and other facilities are existing and well maintained. It is open 7/7 from 6am to 5pm and 19 staffs are working there including 1 radio operator. Even if the landing has to be done visually, airport staff are able to communicate with aircrafts via VHF radios to give basic information such as weather, air traffic, possible obstacle on the airstrip … There are around 10 to 12 flights a month (157 in 2021) and main company working there are MTA and AQUAMARINE. Biggest aircraft authorised are the ATR 72 (20t max, up to 68 passengers).
The airport is now connected via the new RN5 just rehabilitated (connecting Vohemar to Ambilobe, the Sava and Diana regions)
