Madagascar - 2.2.29 Mananjary National Airport

Airport Overview

Mananjary airport is a public airport under the supervision of ADEMA (Aéroports de Madagascar). There are no regular flights anymore, but it is possible to contract private companies. The terminal building and other facilities are in good condition. It is open 7/7 from 6 am to 6 pm, and 8 staff work there, including 2 AFIS radio operators.

Even if the landing has to be done visually, airport staff are able to communicate with the aircrafts via VHF radios to give basic AFIS information such as weather, air traffic, possible obstacle on the airstrip, etc. There is approximately eight flights a month (90 flights in 2021), and the main companies operating there are MAF, Aéromarine, and TOA. The biggest aircraft authorised is the Beech (5t max and 10 pax). Recently, the landing of a Cesna 208 created some damage on the airstrip, which needs to be rehabilitated.
