The harbour is in operation usually as when demand arises, especially from the DRC mines. The main DRC destination is Pweto.

This harbour is not operational at the moment as the managing company is under receivership.  Contact information remains active.  When in operation, copper was the primary cargo.  Two water barges operated from the harbour 75 m in length.

Discharge Rates and Terminal Handling Charges

All rates would have to be negotiated directly with the managing company at the time.

Berthing Specifications

Only pontoon type boats possible enabling drive on drive off capability.

Customs Guidance

Delays occur when documentation is incomplete.  Documentation requirements for food (cereals) are the following:

1. Waybill
2. Export permit (dependent on commodity)
3. Certificate of Origin (COMESA/SADC)
4. Fumigation certificate
5. Export schedule (in case of Maize)
6. Invoice
7. Phytosanitary certificate

Electronic pre-clearance is possible and recommended through a forwarding agent.  Bond is held by the agent for fees. ZRA is the Regulatory Authority. Inspection is required for import and export by Ministry of Agriculture and ZRA.  Fee of USD 100 per foreign registered truck and 196ZMW for Zambian trucks. All trucks are subject to inspection upon entering or leaving the country.

Stevedoring

All labour would have to be negotiated with the managing company at the time of contracting.

Harbour is only accessible by truck.  ZRA have an office opposite the Harbour Office.
