Port Overview  

The city of Sorong is strategic as the main gateway to West Papua Province. Sorong is also known as the city of Industry, trade and services. Goods that are being supplied to Sorong city mainly comes from Makassar and Surabaya by sea transport to the Port of Sorong and then distributed within Sorong city and surrounding districts. A small quantity are distributed to smaller islands by Ferry and Pioneer Ship.  

Sorong Port is the largest port in West Papua province, located in Papua’s bird’s head peninsula, and it is classified as Port Class I. Sorong port is a conventional port for multi-purposes, it is operated by government state-owned company, PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia IV Sorong Branch.

Terminal Information

PT. PELNI and PT. ASDP are the two main ferry operators for cargo and passenger movements from Sorong and throughout West Papua province. The routes for PT. PELNI are Manokwari – Jayapura – Biak – Serui – Fak-Fak – Ambon – Wasior – Nabire – Bau Bau – Ternate – Bitung – Morotai – Bacan  Makassar – Surabaya – Tanjung Priok and for PT. ASDP are Sorong – Arefi – Pam – Lemalas – Waigama – Wejim  - Kofiau.
