Burkina Faso is a landlocked country relying upon the seaport services of neighbouring countries. However, the country has a dry port located in Bobo Dioulasso carried by the CCI (Chambre de Commerce et de l’Industrie - more information here). The dry-port welcomes operators economic, public administration and the customs administration to facilitate import and export activities. According to the CBC (Conseil Burkinabé des Chargeurs) the country is importing 98% of its merchandise by sea with transhipment by road through the main below four corridors:

Lomé (Togo), Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire), Cotonou (Benin), Téma & (Ghana)

The CBC is a professional public establishment with the main missions to coordinate the interventions of partners in the transport chain in transit countries to reduce delivery times and costs and to manage the freight coming from all the corridors (import & export). The CBC of Burkina Faso is a member of the UCCA (Union des Conseils des Chargeurs Africains) and participates to the regional discussion and meeting to improve the freight management within the region.

The CBC is represented in each port and each border entry of the country to support the freight operations and to monitor the truck traffic through their online system called Système de gestion du transport terrestre et aérien des marchandises (Sygestran). In case of strike, losing containers or issues with transporters for example, the CBC with their local representatives is intervening to find solutions.
